The master’s thesis presents the Senate and his place in the system of government under the Constitutions of the Republic of Poland. In the beginning the author shows the development of this authority from the decline of power of the Piast dynasty through the blooming period in the 16th century to the decay of the Polish nation in the 18th century. Then she focuses her attention to the trial of recreating the Senate in some creatures of country, for example the Duchy of Warsaw, the Congress Kingdom of Poland or the Free City of Cracow. The real restitution of this authority came under the Constitution of 17 March 1921. There appears to be another acts: the Constitution of 23 April 1935 and the Constitution of 2 April 1997. In all cases the author puts through consideration the structure and work of the second house of the Parliament and relations between legislative and executive powers. In the end the master’s thesis constitutes a monograph on issues of the alteration of the Senate in the Polish political model.
