The James of Paradise' the De tribus substantialibus religiosorum. The history and critical edition of text

Traktat "De tribus substantialibus religiosorum" powstał w krakowskim okresie twórczości Jakuba z Paradyża, dotyczy trzech ślubów zakonnych i jest on związany z reformatorską działalnością tego autora. Do naszych czasów zachował się w 8 rękopisach (Graz, Universitätsbibliothek, ms. 898; Kraków, Biblioteka Jagiellońska, rkpsy 1216, 1272, 1354; Leipzig, Universitätsbibliothek, Ms 621; Rostock, Universitätsbibliothek, Mss. theol. 3; Wrocław, Biblioteka Uniwersytecka, rkpsy IV F 195m, IV O 7) pośród 4 redakcji: krakowskiej, kaznodziejskiej, dłuższej i krótszej. Ta pierwsza z nich to wersja, która wyszła spod ręki Paradyżanina. Dwie ostatnie zaś to nieautorskie przepracowania tekstu. Ocena wiarygodności redakcji kaznodziejskiej nastręcza kłopotów – brak argumentów przemawiających za odrzuceniem bądź przyjęciem tej redakcji. Tekst Jakuba był rozpowszechniony prawdopodobnie tylko w dwóch środowiskach: cysterskim oraz krakowskim uniwersyteckim. Autor "De tribus substantialibus religiosorum" wykorzystał szereg źródeł, które dość często cytuje dosłownie. Część z nich jest pewnie tylko zapośredniczona. Do najważniejszych źródeł niejawnych zaliczam "De vitio proprietatis" Henryka z Langensteinu bądź Hioba Venera. Dziełko Jakuba ze względu na poruszane problemy i pewnie też na przedstawiane rozstrzygnięcia jest typowe dla tego gatunku piśmiennictwa. W ostatnim rozdziale pracy zamieszczono edycję krytyczną traktatu, przygotowaną w oparciu o wszystkie znane przekazy.

The treatise the "De tribus substantialibus religiosorum" arose in Cistercian period of James of Paradise, concerns three religiosus vows and is linked to James of Paradise' reform activity. To the present day it is preserved in eight manuscripts (Graz, Universitätsbibliothek, ms. 898; Kraków, Biblioteka Jagiellońska, rkpsy 1216, 1272, 1354; Leipzig, Universitätsbibliothek, Ms 621; Rostock, Universitätsbibliothek, Mss. theol. 3; Wrocław, Biblioteka Uniwersytecka, rkpsy IV F 195m, IV O 7) among four versions: Cracow, sermon, longer and shorter. The first of them is the version, which was conceived by James. The last two are not author's transformation of the text. The examination of the sermon version is difficult, there are no arguments for the rejection or acceptance of this version. Probably the text was widespread in only two milieus: Cistercian and Cracow university. The author, when he was writing of the "De tribus substantialibus religiosorum", used a number of sources, which he quite often quoted literally. Some of them are probably only mediated. I include the "De vitio proprietatis" by Henry of Langenstein or Job Vener in the most important implicitly sources. In view of discussed problems and probably also presented solutions James of Paradise' short work is typical for this genre of literature. In the last chapter of thesis is the critical edition of the treatise. It is prepared on the basis of all preserved manuscripts.
