Ocena funkcji układu mięśniowego u osób ze złamaniami osteoporotycznymi
Złamanie niskoenergetyczne, osteoporoza, test siły ścisku ręki, test „Wstań i idź”, densytometria.
Osteoporotic fracture, osteoporosis, Hand Grip Test, the Timed Up and Go test, densitometry.
Introduction:The aging population will increase interest in the problems of older people. One of them is the decline in muscle fitness, leading to an accidental injury. The aging skeletal and muscular systems and predispose patients to osteoporotic fractures. The aim:The aim of this study is to evaluate the physical condition of the musculoskeletal system of women over 50 years of age, who had a history of osteoporotic fractures.Material and methods:The study involved 98 women aged over 50 years old, living in Lesser Poland Voivodeship. These were patients of „Krakowskie Centrum Medyczne”, which is located in the center of Cracow in Poland. In order to provide proper assessment, a questionnaire, a densitometry and functional tests (checking the functioning of the human muscular system) were used. Results:There was no difference in the test results in the hand grip test and „Timed Up and Go” test between different groups. Women with a history of osteoporotic fracture used hands more often while standing up or sitting down on the chair during the test, „Timed Up and Go” than the other groups. Persons with a history of osteoporotic fractures often fell than the persons after other type of fractures or those without prevalent fractures. There has been no correlation between BMD and muscle strength and weak negative correlation between muscle strength and time needed for performance of „Timed Up and Go” test. Conclusions:The occurrence of osteoporotic fracture has no influence on the walking speed and the muscle strength. The occurrence of osteoporotic fracture is associated with increased incidence of falls and using hands when getting up from a chair or sit on it. Dependencies are statistically significant. There was no correlation between BMD and muscle strength. However, it was observed that the higher value of muscle strength increases the walking speed.
