Alkoholizm jest od lat największym nałogiem w Polsce. Liczba osób uzależnionych od alkoholu oszacowana jest na około 700-900 tysięcy. Celem pracy jest poznanie obrazu choroby i motywacji do leczenia osób uzależnionych. Badaniem objęto grupę 140 pacjentów przebywających na Oddziale Terapii Uzależnienia od Alkoholu i Oddziale Leczenia Alkoholowych Zespołów Abstynencyjnych. W badaniu posłużono się metodą sondażu diagnostycznego. Kwestionariusz własnej konstrukcji zawierał 29 pytań. Składał się z trzech części. Pierwsza miała na celu zebranie informacji o danych demograficznych tj. wieku, miejscu zamieszkania, wykształceniu oraz aktywności zawodowej. Druga część miała na celu poznanie obrazu choroby reprezentowanego przez badaną grupę. Trzecia część obejmowała pytania z zakresu motywacji do leczenia uzależniania. Badania wykazały, iż uzależnienie od alkoholu to długotrwały proces, na który wpływa wiele elementów. W badanej grupie blisko połowa respondentów miała w dzieciństwie kontakt z osobami bliskimi nadużywającymi alkoholu. Większość badanych pierwszy raz spożyła alkohol przed 18 rokiem życia. Najchętniej wybieranym przez ankietowanych napojem alkoholowym była wódka. W badanej grupie 62,14% posiadało motywację do podjęcia leczenia uzależnienia od alkoholu. Czynniki socjodemograficzne nie wpływały na posiadanie motywacji, chociaż większy odsetek osób dojrzałych posiadał motywację aniżeli młodszych.

Alcoholism is still for many years the largest addiction in Poland. Number of alcohol addicted is estimated to be approximately 700-900 thousand. Aim of this study is to get a view of the disease and a motivation addicted people have for treatment. The study include group of 140 patients residing in the Department of Alcohol Addiction Therapy and the Department of Alcohol Treatment with Abstinence Syndromes. The study used method of diagnostic survey. The questionnaire contained 29 questions designed by the author. It consisted of three parts. The first part was to gather information of demographic data such as age, dwelling-place, education and professional activity. The second part was to show the view of the disease represented by the study group. The third part included questions on motivation for treatment. Studies have shown that alcohol addiction is a long process that is influenced by many elements. In the study group, almost half of the respondents as a child had a contact with relatives who abused alcohol. Most of the respondents consumed alcohol for the first time before age 18. The most chosen alcoholic beverage by the respondents was vodka. In the study group, 62.14% had the incentive to take treatment of alcohol addiction. Sociodemographic factors did not affect the motivation for treatment, although a bigger percentage of mature people had the motivation than the younger ones.
