Tematem mojej pracy magisterskiej jest motyw śmierci w powieści Lwa Nikołajewicza Tołstoja Wojna i pokój. Praca składa się z 3 rozdziałów. Każdy z nich zawiera informacje pośrednio lub bezpośrednio związane z występowaniem motywu śmierci w twórczości Tołstoja ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem jego najważniejszej powieści jaką jest Wojna i pokój.Celem pracy jest ukazanie funkcjonowania motywu śmierci w twórczości Lwa Tołstoja ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Wojny i pokoju. Praca obejmuje swoim zasięgiem całościową analizę powieści pod kątem tego, jak ukazany jest w niej motyw śmierci.Rozdział pierwszy to przegląd wszystkich epok literackich pod kątem występowania motywu śmierci. W skrócie omówiłam najbardziej charakterystyczne powieści każdej z epok i pokazałam jak funkcjonował w nich motyw śmierci. Od średniowiecznego dance macabre i ars moriendi przez barokową fascynację śmiercią, romantyczne umieranie do niemieckich obozów śmierci i rosyjskich łagrów. Drugi rozdział to biografia Tołstoja. Rozdział trzeci w całości został poświęcony powieści Wojna i pokój oraz temu jak ukazana została w nim śmierć. Zakończenie то podsumowanie zebranych w trakcie analizy wniosków - śmierć nie zawsze jest zła, czasami stanowi wybawienie od cierpienia, niejednokrotnie przyczynia się do zacieśnienia więzi rodzinnych, a także jest wyrazem miłości człowieka do ojczyzny. Często jednak to wynik niefortunnego zbiegu okoliczności, wynik warunków historycznych, czy też po prostu własny wybór człowieka.
