The image of Rus and its habitants in medieval Austrian chronicles written in Latin

Niniejsza praca dotyczy wizerunku Rusi i jej mieszkańców, jaki powstaje z fragmentów średniowiecznych łacińskojęzycznych kronik austriackich o nich wspominających. Ramy chronologiczne obejmują XII-XV wiek - dokładnie od roku 1157 do 1454 (daty pierwszej i ostatniej wzmianki o Rusi bądź Rusinach w tychże kronikach). W rozdziale pierwszym przedstawione zostały podstawowe informacje o źródłach stanowiących podstawę niniejszej pracy i ich autorach. W drugim dokonano analizy tych fragmentów owych źródeł, które przedstawiają informacje ogólne o Rusi i jej mieszkańcach. W rozdziale trzecim zebrano informacje, które w tych kronikach dotyczą konkretnych, wymienianych z imienia, postaci pochodzących z lub związanych z Rusią.

The subject of this thesis is the image of Rus and its inhabitants in medieval Austrian chronicles written in Latin. Time period covers few centuries - exactly from 1157 to 1454 (dates of the first and last mention of Rus or Ruthenians in the chronicles). The first chapter presents the general information about the sources on which this thesis is based and about their authors. In the second chapter fragments regarding basic information about Rus and its inhabitants are analysed. The third chapter includes a piece of information about people who are mentioned by name in the chronicles and came from Rus or were connected with it.
