Przedmiotem pracy jest zbadanie stanu wiedzy personelu medycznego na temat uporczywej terapii.Celem pracy jest ocena wiedzy personelu medycznego na temat definicji, stosowania, uregulowań etycznych i prawnych odstąpienia od stosowania uporczywej terapii oraz praw człowieka umierającego.Badania przeprowadzono na przełomie kwietnia i maja 2014r.Badaniem odjęto 55 osób (15 lekarzy i 40 pielęgniarek) pracujących w Oddziale Anestezjologii i Intensywnej Terapii. Badania przeprowadzono metodą sondażu diagnostycznego, techniką ankiety a narzędzie badawcze stanowił kwestionariusz ankiety zawierający 21 pytań zamkniętych z podaną ilością odpowiedzi. Wyniki badań pozwoliły stwierdzić, że personel medyczny pomimo bardzo dobrej znajomości definicji uporczywej terapii często spotyka się z jej stosowaniem w Oddziale Intensywnej terapii, chociaż zarówno lekarze jak i pielęgniarki aprobują rezygnację z uporczywej terapii.Zdecydowana większość uznaje powołanie Szpitalnych Komisji Bioetycznych za pomocne w ustalaniu leczenia na oddziale Intensywnej Terapii.Według lekarzy i pielęgniarek komfort ostatnich chwil życia jest ważniejszy od heroicznej walki przysparzającej cierpienia i bólu potwierdzając tym prawo chorego do godnego umierania.

An object of the work was searching the state of the knowledge of the medical staff about persistent therapy.An evaluation of the knowledge of the medical staff is a purpose of the work about definition, applying, ethical and legal regulation of persistent therapy and human rights.Research was conducted in the April and the May 2014r.55 persons (15 doctors and 40 nurses) working at the Ward of Anaesthesiologies and the Intensive Care were embraced with research.Research method conducted the diagnostic survey, technique of the questionnaire form and a questionnaire contained 21 closed questions with the given amount constituted the research tool replies.Findings of research allowed to state that the medical staff in spite of the very good knowledge of the definition of persistent therapy often encounters for her applying at the Ward of the Intensive Care. Although both doctors and nurses are approving the resignation from persistent therapy.The straight majority recognizes to helpful appointing Hospital Bioethics Committees in establishing curing on the branch of Intensive Care.According to doctors and nurses the comfort of the last hours of the life is more important than heroic fight causing pain and confirming law of the sick person to worth dying.
