Przed tymi zwycięstwami monarcha wraz z popierającymi go grupami możnych i szlachty uspokoił sytuację wewnątrz kraju, pacyfikując zbuntowany Gdańsk, a także zjednując sobie większość stronników Wiednia z okresu elekcji . Znalazło to swoje odzwierciedlenie podczas sejmów z roku 1582 i przede wszystkim z 1585, na którym posłowie ziemscy byli poddani działaniu stronnictw politycznych wewnątrz izby. |

The reign of King Stefan Batory was a period in which the Republic celebrated triumphs in the international arena. Won on the war with Moscow, recovering seized a few years earlier and was recovered Livonia truce for ten years in the east. Before these victories monarch with the powerful groups who support him and nobility calmed the situation inside the country, pacifying rebellious Gdańsk, as well as winning over the majority of supporters of Vienna from the period of the election. King Stefan reformed the military, which was to improve the Polish army during the planned military campaigns. To gain favor with the noble nation on a costly venture, agreed to the appointment of the Crown Court, and later of Lithuania, which was the fulfillment of the last postulate traffic enforcement. There is no doubt that the monarch was interested in the realization of their aspirations in the international arena, and did not care it demands nobility relating to changes in the political system of the Republic. This was the reason for the growing distrust of the rulers, which later turned into a reluctant and even hostile political nation to the plans of the king. This was reflected in the Diets of 1582 and especially 1585, at which Members landowners were subjected to the action of the political parties within the chamber. Many believe that the parliament of 1585, ended with the victory of King Stephen, as he was able to judge and condemn one of the leaders of the opposition. According to me both court and coterie Zborowski rather lost the conflict. Why? Legation ruler, on which so much depended on the monarch, was rejected by the Chamber of Deputies, which was an indirect consequence of the activities of opponents of the king. It is true that Christopher was convicted, but the reality of execution of the judgment was highly unlikely, as the outlaw he was probably in Moravia. In fact, he could not do anything. Peasant Zborowski, however, despite some success at the beginning of the Diet, ultimately defended one of its leaders. What's more, the opposition failed to drag on your page total deputies, and thus the nobility, which would undoubtedly be the most successful. Conceded the possibility of conducting a political nation, and left behind the image of a coterie of people who seek to pursue their own interests. In my opinion the challenge faced MPs landowners and part of the Senators of the Primate, who had expected the effects of the conflict. On the one hand, defended the king's majesty as an institution representing the Republic, on the other hand allow for protestację opposition, and ended diet at a fixed time, not extending it, which could give rise to further destructive action for the party Zborowski. Thus, they defended the base of the political system and act in accordance with the interests of the state. Parliament of 1585, and the entire reign of King Stephen, became a symbol for the fate of the Republic. It's the first time threatened to break the session, and reference was made to the gentry as a counterweight to the parliament, which can be seen as inciting to rebellion. This is when it is not passed the second time the parliamentary constitution, a legal institution so crucial for the functioning of the state. In addition, during this period revealed a phenomenon that is commonly referred to by historians clientelism: building the mansion and a group of powerful political base based on nobility, used in the political struggle. As shown by the last parliament in the reign of Stefan Batory, against this phenomenon could occur successfully the nobility, who was aware of the reason of state and the situation. This raises the question is only whether the system klientalny was not inevitable in this kind of political system - whether it was the pathology of the body, or on the contrary, must, because around the court and the opposition gave birth to concepts of governance and plans for further development of the Republic? |
