Praca porusza problem konfliktu wewnętrznego w organizacji na przykładzie Couchsurfing – międzynarodowej wspólnoty podróżników, którzy goszczą się wzajemnie w swoich domach i spotykają podczas podróży, uprzednio aranżując te interakcje poprzez stronę internetową. Couchsurfing powstało jako organizacja non-profit, rozwinęło się przez pracę i datki finansowe wolontariuszy, by po jakimś czasie zostać przekształcone przez założycieli w firmę komercyjną. To wywołało ostry protest niewielkiej części użytkowników. Praca odpowiada na trzy pytania badawcze: o powody protestu, charakterystykę protestujących i o powody konformistycznej postawy reszty członków organizacji. Trzy zastosowane techniki badawcze to: analiza treści (wypowiedzi na forum internetowych buntowników), analiza porównawcza internetowych profili użytkowników (grupy buntowników i konformistów) i wywiady pogłębione (z buntownikami i konformistami). Ramę teoretyczną stanowi przede wszystkim teoria konfliktu społecznego Lewisa Cosera, a zwłaszcza podział na konflikty realistyczne i nierealistyczne. Ponadto praca odnosi się do koncepcji konfliktu wartości Georga Simmela, poczucia przynależności do wspólnoty Julii A. Hersberger z zespołem i turystyki intymnej Pauli Bialski.

The thesis discusses the problem of an internal conflict in an organization exemplified by Couchsurfing – an international community of travelers, who host each other at their respective homes and meet during journeys, having arranged those interactions through an Internet website. Couchsurfing was founded as a non-profit organization, developed on the basis of volunteers’ work and financial donations and after some time it was transformed into a commercial company by the founders. It caused a small part of users to strongly protest. The thesis answers three research questions: about the reasons for the protest, the characterization of the protestants and the reasons for the conformist attitude of the other members of the organization. Three research techniques were used: a text analysis (of the rebels’ posts in an Internet forum), an analysis of the Internet user profiles (groups of rebels and conformists compared) and in-depth interviews (with rebels and conformists). The theoretical framework is mainly the theory of social conflict by Lewis Coser, especially the division into realistic and non-realistic conflicts. Moreover, the thesis refers to the concept of a conflict of values by Georg Simmel, the sense of belonging to a community by Julia A. Hersberger with others and intimate tourism by Paula Bialski.
