Nepal po zakończeniu wojny domowej w 2006 roku odmienił swoje społeczno-polityczne oblicze. Transformacja, która dokonała się w tym kraju, była inspirowana postulatami Maoistów, którzy wystąpili przeciwko opresyjnemu systemowi społecznemu, kastowości i monarchii. Niniejsza praca opisuje sytuację Nepalu przed wybuchem rewolucji oraz przemiany jakie dokonały się w tym kraju w XXI wieku, poprzedzona rysem historycznym oraz analizą sytuacji politycznej i geostrategicznej Nepalu na początku stulecia. Główny nacisk położony został na kwestie kastowości, religijności, własności ziemi oraz społecznej sytuacji kobiet.

Nepal has changed its socio-political face in 2006 after the civil war. The transformation that has taken place in this country, was inspired by the demands of the Maoists, who had revolted against the oppressive social system, caste and monarchy. This paper describes the situation of Nepal before the outbreak of the revolution and the changes that have taken place in this country in the twenty-first century, preceded by a historical outline and analysis of political and geo-strategic situation of Nepal at the beginning of the century. The main focus has been placed on issues of caste, religion, land ownership and the social position of women.
