Celem składającej się z trzech rozdziałów pracy "Droga 66 w amerykańskiej kulturze i świadomości w przeszłości i dziś" jest przedstawienie historii powstawania sieci dróg w Stanach Zjednoczonych w tym Drogi 66 oraz wpływu trasy na amerykańską kulturę i świadomość Amerykanów na przestrzeni lat. Podkreślony został także proces legislacyjny umożliwiający instytucjom federalnym, a także powstającym od końca lat 80. XX wieku organizacjom i stowarzyszeniom dbanie o ochronę dziedzictwa kulturowego (np. moteli, restauracji, znaków neonowych, mostów, odcinków drogi, sklepów, stacji benzynowych) wzdłuż legendarnego szlaku. Ponadto, udowodniono tezę pracy, która brzmi: "Mimo że w 1985 roku Droga 66 została oficjalnie skreślona z listy dróg federalnych i zastąpiona międzystanowymi autostradami, duch czasu nie pozwolił jej zniknąć ze świadomości Amerykanów, którzy w poczuciu nostalgii za dawnymi czasami, dbają o ochronę dziedzictwa kulturowego wzdłuż Drogi 66 jako symbolu Stanów Zjednoczonych".

The aim of the master's thesis called "Route 66 in American culture and awareness in the past and now" consisting of three chapters is to show the history of road building in the United States of America including Route 66 and its influence on American culture and awareness over the years. There is also mentioned the legislation process that helped federal institutions, organisations and associations that have been set up since 80's in the XX century take care of cultural heritage (motels, restaurants, neon signs, bridges, parts of the road, shops and gas stations for instance) of the legendary road. Moreover, the thesis of the master's dissertation was proved. It sounds: "Although in 1985 Route 66 became officially removed from the United States Highway System after it had been replaced in its entirety by the Interstate Highway System, the spirit of time didn't let it disappear from Americans awareness who feel nostalgia for the past times and take care of the preservation of the cultural heritage of Route 66 as a symbol of the United States of America".
