Intensywnie rozwijająca się gospodarka Chińskiej Republiki Ludowej (ChRL) oraz przeobrażenie systemu gospodarczo – społecznego jest wyjątkowym zjawiskiem we współczesnych stosunkach międzynarodowych. Polityka Czterech Modernizacji i otwarcie Chin na świat spowodowało napływ zagranicznych inwestycji, dzięki którym możliwy jest dynamiczny postęp technologicznych i rozwój infrastruktury. Ponadto współpraca międzynarodowa w znaczny sposób oddziałuje na stosunki społeczne, przejmowanie zachodniego sposobu życia, stopniową demokratyzację społeczeństwa. Praca prezentuje proces transformacji ChRL. W chronologiczny sposób przedstawia politykę i stan państwa od ery Mao Zedonga, poprzez wprowadzenie reform Deng Xiaopinga, aż po czasy współczesne. Stanowi analizę polityki Komunistycznej Partii Chin oraz jej znaczenie dla sytuacji wewnętrznej i stosunków z zagranicą. Zostały omówione funkcje organów państwowych, jak również chiński model socjalistycznej demokracji.Dodatkowo przeanalizowana została polityka bezpieczeństwa ChRL i relacje chińsko- amerykańskie. Oba państwa zarówno ze sobą rywalizują, jak też rozwijają współpracę w dziedzinie gospodarki. Aby zaprezentować wpływ czynników kształtujących pozycję Chin, w pracy przedstawiono perspektywy i zagrożenia wynikające z modernizacji i industrializacji państwa w dobie globalizacji.

The fast growing economy of the People’s Republic of China and the transformation of the social - economic system is a unique phenomenon in the international relations. The politics of the four modernizations and the opening of China to the world resulted in the affluence of foreign investments which made possible technological progress and the development in the infrastructures. What's more, the international cooperation has a significant impact on social relations, acquiring a western way of life, gradually democratizing the society. This work presents the transformation process in the People’s Republic of China. The politics and the status of the state is presented in a chronological way from the Mao Zedong era through the reforms performed by Deng Xiaoping until nowadays. This analysis presents the politics of the Chinese Communist Party and its meaning for the internal situation and the foreign relations. The state bodies are discussed as well as the chinese model of socialist democracy. In addition, the security policy of the People’s Republic of China was analyzed as well as the sino-american relations. Both countries at the same time compete with each other and develop the cooperation in the economic domain. To show the impact of factors shaping China's position are presented in this paper the risks and prospects resulting from the modernization and industrialization of the state in the globalization era.
