Tematem pracy są słowniki jako środek pomocniczy w pracy tłumacza. Szczególnie uwzględnione są słowniki jedno i dwujęzyczne oraz ich analiza na podstawie wybranych haseł słownikowych. Celem jest zbadanie przydatności obu typów słownika w pracy tłumacza oraz określenie, które z nich są najbardziej odpowiednie. W początkowej części pracy uwzględniona została krótka historia słowników oraz ich podział według różnych kryteriów. Kolejnych punktem jest omówienie budowy słownika oraz zawartych w nim haseł. W dalszej części wyszczególnione zostały zjawiska które mogą stwarzać problemy przy korzystaniu ze słownika, poruszony został temat polisemii, homonimii oraz komplikacje związane z występowaniem kolokacji i związków frazeologicznych. W tym samym rozdziale omówione zostały słowniki jedno i dwujęzyczne, ich funkcje oraz przydatność przy tłumaczeniach. Analiza słowników przebiega na podstawie wybranych haseł, rzeczowników oraz czasowników z dziedziny sportu. Na podstawie zawartych w hasłach informacji wyciągane są wnioski co do przydatności jednego bądź drugiego typu słowników. Na końcu znajdują się wysnute wnioski.

The topic of this master’s thesis is the use of dictionary as a tool in the work of translator, considering especially the monolingual and bilingual dictionaries and their analysis on the base of chosen entries. The aim is to examine the use of both types and to determine, which is the most suitable tool of work.The beginning of the thesis contains a short history of the dictionary itself, as well as their classification, considering various criteria. The next part is the periphrasis of structure and enclosed entries of the dictionary. After that comes a selection of circumstances that may present an obstacle in the use of dictionary. Among the raised, are the topics of polysemy, homonymy, as well as complications that occur among collocations and phraseological collocations. Monolingual and bilingual dictionaries and their use are being described in the same chapter.The analysis of dictionaries is made, considering the chosen entries – nouns and verbs used in the field of sport activities. On the base of the information given in the entries, I conclude by determining, which type of dictionary is the most suitable as a tool in the work of translator.

In der Arbeit unter dem Titel „Wörterbücher als Hilfsmittel bei der Arbeit von Übersetzern. Eine Analyse der ein- und zweisprachigen Wörterbücher anhand ausgewählter Wörterbuchartikel“ wird der Grad der Nützlichkeit beider Arten von Wörterbücher bei der Arbeit von Übersetzern analysiert. Die Analyse erfolgt anhand der Wörter, die einen Zusammenhang mit dem Thema Sport aufweisen können.Außer der Analyse enthält die Arbeit die Informationen über Wörterbücher, ihre Einteilung nach verschiedenen Kriterien, sowie die Informationen zu Phänomenen und Problemen, die beim Benutzen eines Wörterbuchs zu treffen sind. Gemeint sind an dieser Stelle solche Erscheinungen wie Homonymie, Polysemie, Kollokationen und Phraseologismen.Am Ende der Arbeit befinden sich die Schlussfolgerungen.
