Niniejsza praca traktuje o balecie Błazen op. 21 Sergiusza Prokofiewa skomponowanym w 1915 roku i zrewidowanym w 1920 roku. Celem pracy jest ukazanie Błazna z jednej strony jako efektu skomplikowanego procesu współpracy artystów z różnych dziedzin sztuki (muzyki, tańca, sztuk plastycznych), z drugiej jako niezwykle interesującego dla muzykologa przykładu opracowania muzycznego dzieła baletowego. Duży nacisk został położony na przedstawienie genezy dzieła, procesu przeobrażania się osobowości kompozytora pod wpływem impresaria – Sergiusza Diagilewa, i tym samym intensywny rozwój Prokofiewa jako twórcy muzyki scenicznej. W dalszej części pracy opisany został przebieg realizacji scenicznej prapremiery Błazna. Składają się na niego opis okresu prób i przygotowania do premiery, pomysłów choreograficznych, scenografii oraz kostiumów. Kolejnym zagadnieniem poruszanym przeze mnie w pracy jest libretto. Jego geneza, treść i analiza, wraz z krótkim fragmentem traktujący o motywie błazna w kulturze i sztuce są przedmiotem rozważań w rozdziale czwartym. Analiza muzykologiczna baletu, zawarta na przestrzeni dwóch rozdziałów, pozwoliła odpowiedzieć na pytania dotyczące m.in. struktury dzieła, występujących w nim tematów przypisanych konkretnym postaciom baletu, fragmentów o charakterze tanecznym, a także cech harmoniki, faktury oraz rytmiki muzyki baletu Błazen. Problem recepcji dzieła podczas paryskiego i londyńskiego sezonu koncertowego w maju i czerwcu 1921 r poruszony został w rozdziale siódmym. W zakończeniu pracy odnoszę się do opinii badaczy dotyczących znaczenia baletu Prokofiewa na tle przede wszystkim baletów Strawińskiego oraz problemu inspiracji folklorem rosyjskim w twórczości tych kompozytorów.

This thesis deals with the ballet Chout op. 21 by Sergei Prokofiev composed in 1915 and revised in 1920. Aim of this study is to show the ballet on the one hand as an effect of the complicated process of collaboration between artists from different fields of art (music, dance, visual arts), on the other as a very interesting example of development of musical ballet style. Great emphasis was placed on presentation of the genesis of the work, the process of transformation of Sergei Prokofiev under the influence of impresario - Sergei Diaghilev, and his rapid development as a creator of a stage music. In the remainder of the work is described the implementation of stage premiere. It consists of a description of the rehearsals and preparation for premiere, choreographic ideas, set design and costumes. Another issue touched on in my work is the libretto. Its origins, content and analysis, along with a brief comment about the "jester" in culture and art are explored in chapter four. Musicological analysis of the ballet, set out over two chapters helped to answer questions about the structure of the work, themes assigned to specific characters or occurrences of the ballet, character of dance pieces, as well as the characteristics of harmony, texture and rhythm in the ballet. The problem of reception at the Paris and the London concert season in May and June 1921 was raised in chapter seven. In the ending of my thesis I refer to the opinion of scholars on the significance of Prokofiev's ballet in relation to Stravinsky ballets and the problem of Russian folklore inspirations in the works of these composers.
