Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest zagadnieniom związanym z przekładem tekstu filozoficznego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem tłumaczenia „Introduction to Phenomenology” Roberta Sokolowskiego. Celem pracy jest rozważenie przekładu tekstu filozoficznego z punktu widzenia teorii lingwistycznych oraz samej filozofii. Podejmuję próbę określenia specyfiki języka, którym posługuje się filozofia oraz określenia jego wpływu na sposób tłumaczenia oraz postawę tłumacza. Język filozoficzny zostaje określony jako szczególny rodzaj języka naturalnego wzbogaconego niekiedy o cechy, a nawet konstrukcje, pochodzące z innych systemów naukowych jak system logiki. Jest to zatem szczególny rodzaj języka mieszanego.Problematyka przekładu tekstu filozoficznego rozważana jest pod kątem zasadności adaptacji, adekwatności oraz ekwiwalencji. Z racji różnorakiej treści i charakteru tekstów filozoficznych, w kwestii rejestru, rodzaju dyskursu i stylu mieszczą się one na niemal całej szerokości spektrum. Przedstawiono również niektóre rozważania Romana Ingardena na temat przekładu różnego rodzaju tekstów oraz jego uwagi na temat wierności przekładu czy różnic między językami.Przedstawiono również wymagania jakie stawiać można przed tłumaczem tekstu filozoficznego – jego wiedza, dialog ze specjalistami czy wpływ na tekst docelowy. Na koniec przedstawiono kilka przykładowych problemów translatorskich powstałych w procesie tłumaczenia „Introduction to Phenomenology” oraz proponowane ich rozwiązania.

This work is concerned with translation of philosophical texts and based mostly on a particular translation of “Introduction to Phenomenology” by Robert Sokolowski. The goal here is to reflect on philosophical text translation from the viewpoint of linguistics and philosophy.I try to determine the specific character of the philosophical language and describe its influence on the translation procedure and the translator’s attitude. Philosophical language is defined as a distinct variety of natural language enriched with features and even some intellectual constructs coming from other scientific systems such as logic. Therefore, it can be considered as a very specific kind of mixed language.Issues connected with philosophical text translation are discussed in the light of adaptation, adequacy and equivalence. As for the variety of content and numerous kinds of philosophical texts, the same versatility is also present in case of register, discourse and style. Presented here are also some considerations by Roman Ingarden and his views on translation such as issues connected with language characteristics and the conformity with the original.What is also considered here are the requirements that the philosophical text translator should try to meet – his knowledge, cooperation with other specialists as well as the influence of the translator’s features on the translated version. There is also a short list of practical issues that emerged during the actual translation of “Introduction to Phenomenology” together with their proposed solutions.
