Horvath tematyzuje w swoim opowiadaniu „Jugend ohne Gott” sposoby radzenia sobie z ciężarem życia w warunkach dyktatury. Chociaż brak jest w nim bezpośrednich nawiązań do narodowego socjalizmu, uważny czytelnik może odnaleźć między wierszami aluzje do rzeczywistości hitlerowskich Niemiec.Niniejsza praca magisterska poświęcona jest przede wszystkim analizie relacji między państwem a obywatelem, które nierzadko mają charakter uwiedzenia. W pierwszej kolejności zbadane zostały te działania państwa, które powinny przekonać społeczeństwo do ślepego posłuszeństwa.Znamiona manipulacji nosi nie tylko przejęcie kontroli nad językiem, stosowane jest również zastraszanie, inwigilacja lub kontrola sfery prywatnej jak i tworzenie iluzji dobrobytu. Narzędziami w ręku władz są przede wszystkim media, na czele z radiem, oraz traktowane instrumentalnie prawo. Na podkreślenie zasługuje jednak fakt, że uwiedzenie nie jest prostym oddziaływaniem uwodziciela na osobę uwodzącą. Drugi biegun tego skomplikowanego związku nie odgrywa roli jedynie biernej ofiary. Aby usprawiedliwić swoje zachowanie obywatel często sięga po mechanizmy obronne, takie jak identyfikacja z agresorem, wyparcie, projekcje. Część mieszkańców jest jednak w stanie zachować autonomie myślenia i nie poddaje się woli państwa. Są to przede wszystkim osoby z marginesu społecznego, prostytutki, odtrąceni, ale tez grupa wolno myślącej młodzieży. Ponadto szczególnej analizie zostało poddane postępowanie głównej postaci- nauczyciela, znajdującego się pod coraz większym wpływem idei religijnych. Jako ostatnie poczynione zostały uwagi co do recepcji omówionego dzieła.

Even though it lacks direct references to national socialism, a vigilant reader who reads between the lines may find allusions to the reality of Nazi Germany.The hereby thesis is devoted mostly to analysis of state-citizen relationships, which are frequently based on seduction. Firstly, the state actions which should convince the society to be blindly obedient, were examined.The manipulation is visible not only in the use of language, but the methods employed include undue influence, surveillance, private life monitoring as well as creating an illusion of welfare. The tools used by the authorities embrace the media, especially radio, and instrumental treatment of law. It should be emphasized that seduction is not a simple act of exerting influence by a seducer on a person being seduced. The latter side of this complex relationship is not just a passive victim. In order to excuse one’s behavior, the citizen habitually applies defensive strategies, such as identification with the oppressor, denial and projections.A certain part of the society, however, is able to maintain thought autonomy and doesn’t surrender to the state will. These are primarily social outcasts, prostitutes and the rebuffed, but also free-thinking youth. Moreover, an in-depth analysis of the way of conduct of the main character-the teacher, who finds himself more and more under the influence of the religious ideas, was carried out. Lastly, the remarks concerning the reception of the above mentioned work were made.
