Approximated reasoning and fuzzy evaluation in a design system
This paper extends the logic-based reasoning methods used previously in the presented computer-aided visual design system to a fuzzy classification. Up to now in this system the designer has created early design solutions in the form of drawings on the monitor screen. In this paper a possibility of the automatic generation of alternative design drawings is proposed. The fuzzy classification of these drawings is based on approximate reasoning, where different types of criteria are considered. Due to this classification the system is able to evaluate the correspondence of potential solutions to the project specification. The approach is illustrated by example of designing layouts of a small office.
