Tekst jest syntetycznym opisem i formalną analizą obrazu religijnego pt. "Zdjęcie z krzyża" Rogera van der Weyden (1399/1400-1464) znajdującego się obecnie w Muzeum Prado w Madrycie. Artykuł ukazuje również teologiczne źródła obrazu (koncepcję współcierpienia, współmęki Maryi wraz z Chrystusem pod krzyżem i współzbawienia świata przez Matkę Boga oraz koncepcję przemienienia Maryi - mistycznej transformacji). Maryja jest Coadiutrix, czyli Współpomocnicą w zbawieniu. 7 stacji Męki Chrystusa porównane jest z 7 żalami Maryi. Maryja i Chrystus wspólnie pokonują diabła. Maryja jest Współdziałającą z Chrystusem. Ma miejsce mistyczne ukrzyżowanie Maryi (Maryja-Współmęczenniczka). Źródłami biblijnymi dla teologii współcierpienia i współzbawienia, według Otto von Simsona (ur. 1912 - zm. 1993), są m.in.: Księga Mądrości, Księga Rodzaju (m.in. osoby Abrahama i Judyty), Ewangelie (m.in. proroctwo Symeona i sceny Pasji na Golgocie). Według historyka sztuki Otto von Simsona, bezpośrednią inspiracją dla obrazu "Zdjęcie z krzyża" Rogera van der Weyden były pisma Dionizego Kartuza.

The text is a synthetic description and formal analysis of religious picture entitled "Descent from the Cross" by Roger van der Weyden (1399/1400-1464), that is presently in the Prado Museum in Madrid. The paper presents also theological sources of the picture (concept of compassion, compassio of Our Lady together with Christ under the Cross and concept of Co-salvation (Co-redemption) the world by Mother of God and concept of Mary's transfiguration or mystical transformation). Our Lady is the Coadiutrix, so Coadjutant (Co-Assistant) in Salvation (Co-Redemption). Seven Stations of Christ Passion have been compared with Seven Mary's Sorrows. Mary and Christ together win the devil. Mary is the Person Cooperating with Christ. There has been the mystical crossing of Our Lady (Mary is the Co-Martyr). The Biblical sources for theology of compassion and coredemption, according Otto von Simson (1912 - 1993), are e.g.: the Book of Wisdom, the Book of Genesis (e.g. persons of Abraham and Judith), the Gospels (e.g. Symeon's prophecy and scenes of the Passion on the Golgota [Calvary]). According Otto von Simson, an art historian, works by Dionysius de Karthuizer were inspiration for the picture "The Descent from the Cross" by Roger van der Weyden.
