Romowie nie są najliczniejszą z mniejszości etnicznych zamieszkałych Polskę, ale na pewno są grupą, której dotyczy najwięcej negatywnych stereotypów, uprzedzeń i ataków ze strony pozostałych mieszkańców kraju. Muzea mogą pełnić rolę mediatorów w budowaniu pozytywnych relacji z grupami wykluczonymi, jednakże warunkiem takiego funkcjonowania jest partycypacyjny model działania ze społecznością. W tekście omówione zostały kolejne sposoby przedstawiania historii Romów obecne w polskim muzealnictwie, w krytyczny sposób odniesiono się do wystaw prezentujących stereotypowy wizerunek Romów oraz podane zostały pozytywne przykłady przełamywania postaw ksenofobicznych.

The Roma people are not the largest ethnic minority living in Poland, but they are definitely the group which is most affected by negative stereotypes, prejudices, and attacks from the other inhabitants of the country. Museums can act as mediators in building positive relationships with the excluded groups, however they need to operate on the basis of the participatory model of community work. This text discusses various ways of presenting the history of the Roma people, offered by Polish museums. It also refers in a critical way to some exhibitions presenting the stereotypical image of Roma, as well as provides positive examples of overcoming xenophobic attitudes.
