The article Corruption as a problem in Latin America - origins and effects presents corruption as one of the problematic issues that afflicts contemporary Latin America. Not only it refers to academic theories about corruption as such, but concentrates mainly on depicting the phenomenon in the region, starting with results of two well-known studies: Corruption Perception Index and Global Corruption Barometer applied to Latin America. The article describes not only the complex origins of the perduring and aggravating problem, but also deals with its consequences for Latin American economics, society and politics.
