Polityka egipskiego sułtanatu Mameluków wobec łacińskiego Królestwa Cypru w XV wieku
Bibliogr. s. 19-22
Under the rule of the French Lusignan dynasty Cyprus became the focus of interest for many countries, including the Mamluk Sultanate. After the fall of Akka (1291) Cyprus was fulfilling a significant role in the exchange between the Christianworld and the East. After the death of Peter I of Lusignan (1359-1369) a period of glory came to an end; once commercial prosperity was over, Cyprus found itself in a much weaker position. In 1420's sultan Barsbay sent his fleet against the island. After the battle of Chirokitiahis army captured theking of Cyprus, which led to the dependence of the Kingdom of Cyprus from the Mamluk Sultanate, even though in 1470's and 1480's it was drawn into a web of Venetian policy in the Eastern Mediterranean.
