Fundamentalizm muzułmański : determinanty zjawiska w Azji Centralnej

Central Asia is characterized by the specific nature of functioning of the state and society, as well as by the special role religion plays in social life. The article describes Muslim fundamentalism in Central Asia. The author presents the main determinants of the phenomenon: transformation that took place in the Middle East in the 20th century; the ideological vacuum which arose in Central Asia after the collapse of the Soviet Union; political instability and long-running conflicts in such countries as Afghanistan and Pakistan; the role that installed political systems fulfill in the former Soviet republics and in the spread of fundamentalism; and finally the function of propaganda in the media and madrasa camps at the Afghan-Pakistani border.
