The education in medical and nursing degrees is focused on medical sciences, it contains also elements of ethics and psychology; however, the professions of doctor and nurse require some basic knowledge of management as well. Starting with time and self-development management, through planning and performing care over patients and ending with exercising the function of charge nurse or chief of the ward. Gaining knowledge from management sciences area is then significant from the point of view of patient-oriented treatment, of medical staff’s personal and professional development and of management in health care sector. The main aim of the presented research was to determine and describe the content of the curricula of medical and nursing degrees at medical universities in Poland in the area of management competencies development. The author has analysed programmes of studies, curricula of certain subjects and descriptions of learning effects for medical and nursing degrees at the ten biggest and leading medical universities in Poland. The results of the research have allowed to determine the level of education of future doctor and nurses in the area of management. The results of the analysis are then the basis for some recommendations for those responsible for university programmes for medical students.
