W artykule przestawiono wpływ silnego wiatru na przekształcenie środowiska przyrodniczego na obszarach górskich. W pierwszej części scharakteryzowano typy wiatrów powodujące powstanie wiatrołomów i wiatrowałów na obszarze Podbabiogórza, następnie omówiono różnice pomiędzy wiatrołomami a wiatrowałami oraz ich wewnętrzne zróżnicowanie. W dalszej części opisano historię występowania „wichur”, które spowodowały największe przekształcenia środowiska przyrodniczego (wśród nich opisano m.in. „halny stulecia”, który wystąpił w 1968r.). W głównej części artykułu skupiono się na największej na Podbabiogórzu „wichurze”, która 19 listopada 2004 r. wyrządziła nienotowane wcześniej straty. W jej wyniku powstały wielkie wiatrołomy na południowych stokach Policy oraz na uroczysku Bembeńskie. Oprócz przedstawienia panującej wówczas sytuacji meteorologicznej, w artykule omówiono także geosystem przed i po zmianie.

Abstract in English
The article presents the influence of strong wind on the transformation of the natural environment in the mountain areas. The first part characterises the types of wind causing the occurrence of wind-fallen trees and wind-throws in the Babia Góra area, while later the author discusses the differences between wind-fallen trees and wind-throws, and their internal diversification. Further, the text describes the history of occurrence of “gales” that caused the greatest transformation of the natural environment (including, for example, the description of the “halny wind of the century” that was observed in 1968). The article’s body focuses on the most extreme “gale” in the Babia Góra area that caused unprecedented losses on 19 November 2004. Huge wind-fallen trees could be observed on the southern slopes of Polica and the Bembeńskie forest wilderness in its wake. Apart from the presentation of the meteorological situation at that time, the article also discusses the geographical system before and after the transformation.
