Revivalism constitutes an important elements of the American culture and religious tradition. The aim of the article is to describe the characteristic features of the American revival preaching tradition on the basis of the sermons of Jonathan Edwards, 18th century theologian and a preacher that played a key role in the first Great Awakening. At first the author of the article characterizes the revival tradition of America, and the revival preaching rhetoric. Next, after the discussion of Jonathan Edward's life and output, anextensive of three of his sermons is carried out. His three sermons Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, The Manner in Witch the Salvation of the Soul is to be Sought and The Future Punichment of the wicked Unavoidable and Intolerable are use to illlustrate diverse aspect of the revival preaching
