article
The article investigates two 13th century texts, the hagiographical Vie de saint Jehan Paulus and the courtly romance Amadas et Ydoine, focusing on the problem of exclusion and persecution which reaches its climax in the highly theatrical scene in both works. The archaic Roman concept of homo sacer, as outlined by Giorgio Agamben and Robert Jacob, serves as a key for the analysis of this aspect.pl
