Praca dotyczy zastosowania uzbrojonych bezzałogowych aparatów latających ("dronów"), głównie przez wojska amerykańskie w ramach wojny z Al Kaidą, z punktu widzenia prawa międzynarodowego. Praca zawiera krótkie wprowadzenie do technologii dronów, skupia się jednak na jej ocenie z perspektywy pojęcia konfliktu zbrojnego (ocena wojny z terroryzmem i próba dopasowania jej do struktury pojęciowej MPH), prawa państwa do samoobrony zapisanego w Karcie Narodów Zjednoczonych oraz podstawowych zasad międzynarodowego prawa humanitarnego (rozróżniania, proporcjonalności, konieczności wojskowej, humanitaryzmu, przedsiębrania środków ostrożności).

The thesis deals with the assessment of the use of Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (or Aerial Systems), popularly known as drones, from the perspective of the International Humanitarian Law of Armed Conflict, especially with the American employment of this technology in the war against Al Qa'ida. It contains a short introduction into the drone technology, but focuses on its assessment from the perspective of the term 'armed conflict' (an attempt to fit the war with Al Qa'ida into the current terminology of International Humanitarian Law), a state's right to self-defense, contained in the United Nations Charter, and the main principles of International Humanitarian Law (distinction, proportionality, military necessity, humanity and the obligation to take safety precautions to protect the civilian population).
